Each weekend, I post a readable, a watchable, and a listenable of which I'm fond. You can choose what happens next. Earlier volumes can be found here.
Read
This is a classic I recently revisited with no regret. John Bunyan's The Pilgrim's Progress is one of the most translated books in history, for good reason. It's the journey of a man named Christian who is making his way to Celestial City. He meets a motley crew of characters including Charity, Obstinate, Evangelist, and Hypocrisy - all of which could have been played by me. It can make you fall in love with God for the first time or all over again. No pressure.
Watch
I'll be the first to admit there's a lot of hype surrounding the Fox show Glee. However, the pilot did not disappoint. It had me lamenting not having a show choir at Corner High School circa 1994 and rooting for the demise of the lead character's marriage. What? Yes. You can watch the first episode here from the cozy couch that is my blog.
Listen
A friend recently accused me of being addicted to acoustic coffee shop music...guilty. One of my faves from way back (is 1998 really "way back?") is Shawn Colvin. Her music makes you want to sit on the porch and journal about lost love or the vastness of nature. I tend to listen and drive to Old Navy - a valuable task all the same. Her latest album is Shawn Colvin: Live which includes this cover of Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy." Lovely.

hmmmm... don't know if I can watch Glee - here is a movie rental recommendation thought - Smother - it made me laugh so hard I cried...more than once!
ReplyDeleteLove the remake of "Crazy" also now that you have an iphone how about adding an "app" to the recommends list? Good stuff
ReplyDeleteA: I love a good rec! I also love crying induced by laughing.
ReplyDeleteCB: I SHOULD add app recs to the Rabbit Recommends, but right now I don't like having over two pages of menus. When Apple lets me delete "Stocks" I'll do it!
Very unique blog.

I too, LOVE Shawn Colvin's music. It is so soothing to listen to. I didn't realize she had a new live album. Now I'm off to check it out!
ReplyDeleteB: Thanks! I'm headed now to check out your own bloggy world!
ReplyDeleteKES: Yay for Shawn Colvin!
