The Post About The Rabbit Recommends v.90

Each week or so I post a readable or watchable and/or a listenable of which I'm fond. You can choose what happens after my recommendation. Ignore, embrace, debate.

Earlier volumes of The Rabbit Recommends can be found here.

Listen
Summer has always equaled music to me. The year was 1983 and my babysitter Angie would leave me in her pool for hours while she baked her skin. My job was to rewind the cassette tape so we could hear more Cyndi Lauper, Bananarama, Irene Cara and Michael Jackson.

Who had a choreographed dance to Michael Sembello's Maniac? Me too.

So each year on Memorial Day weekend, I take the time to craft what I believe to be an ideal mix for windows down and sunglasses on.

Here's a sample of my Summer '11 Mix Tape:

#4: Kat DeLuna: Drop It Low

#6: Adele: Rumour Has It

#10: Natasha Bedingfield: Strip Me

#13:Matthew Mayfield: Missed Me

#18: Bruno Mars: Runaway Baby

Twenty tracks total for this summer and 5 bonus songs for the therapeutic purpose of flashback.

#23: Blues Traveler: Runaround

See the rest of my picks on the Jamie's Rabbits Summer Mix Tape Ping playlist.

Your turn: Which song will you have on repeat this summer? Which one takes you back in the best way possible?

Recommending Disclaimer: I don't suggest anything because I get it free or because I have some sort of illicit relationship with iTunes or John Popper. And when I'm feeling stuck and need a buck I don't rely on luck.

  1. These listenable recommendations are oh so much more important to me now that I don't interact with people on a daily basis. Adele is my jam these days too.  Oh and the year was 1985 and my babysitter Chrissy ignored my brothers and I while smoking cigarettes on our front steps and dragging the tv closer to the door so she could watch Dance Party USA. I believe the songs were about the same as yours.

  3.  I like the 1994 flashback.  I was 13 that year, and that was the year my Mom started letting me listen to whatever music I wanted.  I remember the music of '94-'96 better than any other... (sigh)

Also love Adele - have just discovered her.  Awesomeness.
