The Post About Chasing a Rabbit Out of My Nose

I heard a journalist asking folks about strange illnesses they might have. One woman shared that her soft palate (back roof of her mouth) was too short. How is that strange?

The soft palate is movable, consisting of muscle fibers sheathed in mucous membrane. It is responsible for closing off the nasal passages during the act of swallowing, and also for closing off the airway. If your soft palate is too short, then when you eat Cheez-its, chewed up cheesy bits can, and most likely will, come out of your nose. That is strange.

During this interview, all I could think of was the soft palette my Mom used to put down for me in front of the TV so I could watch Scooby Doo. I wish I could put down a blanket in my office. And take a nap. I love naps. Especially when I've had a carb-heavy breakfast. Ahh...pancakes.

I chase rabbits here AND in my own head.
