The Post About How Fellowship Halls Rule and Sanctuaries Drool

My church sanctuary is quite lovely.
Sanctuary Stained Glass
It has beautiful windows.

Church Pulpit
And gorgeous handcrafted furniture.

Church Trumpet
There are classic instruments.

Church Organ
And antiques.

Sunday Order of Worship
And what happens in that room is prayed over and plotted and planned and executed with much heart and measure.

But there's a room I love infinitely more.

Church Fellowship Hall
The fellowship hall.

The room itself has sticky floors and bad lighting, but it's what it represents that matters. It's a symbol of the love I experience from those who are a part of the body of Christ. And not just the ones in the building.

What good is a grand stage and stained glass if there's no love?

Author and former Franciscan priest Brennan Manning said "The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians, who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door, and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable."

Unbelievable.

Jesus, 1/3 of the band "The Trinity" said "
So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are My disciples.” John 13:34-35

Love.

  1. I agree the fellowship hall may have sticky floors but it has to be in the same catagory as the santuary because it also has stories that are shared as well as fellowship bringing people together

  2. So if Jesus is 1/3 of the band, which instrument does he play? Or is he the lead singer?

  3. Well as we all know Jesus spent alot of time in fellowship sharing meals with people. So what better way to follow his example. Also the fellowsip hall is a good place to practice what we have learned in the sanctuary. If you ask me I think we should get together every Sunday morning before Sunday School and share a snack and fellowship. How awesome would it be to start the Lords day out that way. Just a thought

  4. I think we should eat more in the sanctuary. And run. And Jesus definitely plays the bass. Because the bass is where the funk be. And Jesus is the Funkbringer.
And antiques are much prettier when their is a layer of dust on them because of disuse.

  5. R: I 100% agree with you!

DB: Holy Spirit handles all leading in a band...

CB: I am pro-snack prior to all church gatherings.

    J: You are too controversial.
