The Post About My Petite Sirloin with Google Maps

This is where I drive:
Jefferson County Map
I do so with less multitasking than in the past since Bugs, the iPhone, is quite the curmudgeon when it comes to texting while driving. Or it could be the size of my hitch-hiking thumbs.

I like to know where I'm going whenever I get behind the wheel. Therefore, I depend heavily on the kindness of Google Maps. But could I make a suggestion to Larry and Sergey?

Let's start skipping to step 4 from now on when you develop the route from A to B.

I don't need to know whether to turn left or right out of my driveway.

This is a small beef.

  1. I have a huge beef with Google Maps. It's called a dark alley in a not-so-safe looking neighborhood in an unknown town. Google specializes in wrong turns.

  2. I am a big fan of google maps--and use the maps feature on my iPhone quite a lot as well. I agree about the first few steps. It would take 5 steps just to get out of my old apartment complex! Sometimes it's useful though when I am starting somewhere unfamiliar.

  3. I specialize in "knowing where I am at with my eyes closed."

  4. Caryann: It would be nice if you could program it to "no alleys"

Caitlin: I have been known to turn the wrong way out of my driveway, so I may be fussing for nothing.

L: Your girlfriend is not so keen on that skill when trying to surprise you...

  5. Oh I loved this post! As if you don't know how to get out of your own apartment complex...ha! My boyfriend and I always giggle over that. Still I have to say GoogleMaps has always been nicer to me than MapQuest.

I nominated you for a blog award!

So I don't know whether or not you accept awards, but have something for you over at my blog:

  7. R: I definitely think Google trumps Mapquest every time! Thank you for the flair!

H: So sweet! Not everyone describes me as "refreshing" so I'll take it!

  8. LOL :) Too true. I wish I could start the directions from the bottom of my neighborhood. I really do know how to get out of it.

  9. My beef is with my GPS that doesn't know the right way out of my neighborhood onto Hwy. 119.
