The Post About Special K vs. Cookie Crisp

The first question I answer in the morning is "What should I eat?"

Actually, I address a few issues before that:

  • How many apps can I open on Bugs before the snooze alarm starts nagging?
  • Should I watch Matt Lauer or Zack Morris?
  • Will dry shampoo help this blowout make it one more day?
But immediately after those dilemmas, there's the food crisis.

And I love breakfast.

In the immortal words of Curtis James Jackson III, I love it like a fat kid loves cake. Which, by the way, is a great choice for the early AM.

I generally choose between cereal, bagels, frozen waffles, or pizza rolls.

The first option is the real challenge.

Do I make the good choice and pour the 1% on something infused with 37 vitamins and includes chewy bits that improve my intestinal fortitude? Or is the equivalent to a Snickers bar floating in a glass of milk my choice?

Let's just say my diabetes diagnosis is pending.

If you need some assistance finding your way through the cereal box maze, let TopCultured's flowchart be your guide.

What's your cereal of choice?

  1. That is awesome! I love flow charts! Random cereal related sidenote: I was in target the other day and they saw these vintage-y looking cereal boxes. What was that? Has anyone else seen them?

Oh, and I am boring and I only like Cheerios. Dry. But I still put them in a bowl and eat them with a spoon.

  2. C: I actually have seen them - very cool, but they do not appear to have enough sugar. I need at least 1 cube per spoonful. Cheerios aren't bad unless you find them in a ziploc bag in the bottom of your bag. And you don't have kids. Then you might need to reassess.

  3. Jamie-Haha! No, I don't carry them in my bag. Excellent point and something to watch out for.

  4. I love, love, love Cinnamon Toast Crunch. A box could be gone through in a day. Eaten only by me :) Trix runs a close second. I am a mommy now and so now we have Multigrain Cheerios.

  5. I decided to be mature and pretentious and ended up at GoLean. Feh.

Of course, when I was a kid, this was the holy grail of breakfast cereals:

  8. K: Isn't it funny that we dote on our children and pour the sugar down our own throats - that's the kind of mom I'd be :-)

p-b: I STILL love the variety pack - it meets my ADD needs.

A(ELM): Oh to have Trader Joe's in Alabama! I am also a fan of the knock-off.

    2. Zach Morris
    3. Yes it will. I use dry shampoo a few times a week.
OMG I completely forget about French Toast Crunch that stuffs nearly as good as Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I love Boo Berry and Count Chocula. Ok thanks, it's almost 4pm and you've got me craving cereal...

  11. Ma: Pops are fabulous - especially in the mini boxes :-)

Mi: Bugs is actually the name of my iPhone - I should not have assumed everyone had met him. I love cereal at the oddest times of day - not just in the AM - good thing!

  13. Hi Jamie!
I am over from AL Bloggers.
Love this post! And the flow chart...it took me straight to Cocoa Krispies, which is the cereal that my hubby and I are fighting over at home this week.
We also stock Cheerios, but I mix the regular with the honey nut for the toddler...because he is like his momma and needs sugar in his diet to function. :)

  14. R: It DOES rock - I fell for it immediately!

K: I have dreams about Cocoa Krispies. Sugar aids brain development, right?

  15. Captain Crunch!

My kids and I are BIG cereal eaters. We love all of the really unhealthy stuff.

  16. You rock! So does Count Chocola and Boo Berry IMHO.

  17. J: I think the unhealthy stuff helps you to develop a sense of humor.

    LoB: Two excellent choices.

  18. I could eat Golden Grahams all day long!! No milk, though. I made it all the way to the bottom of the chart. Not sure if that is good or bad but I felt like I accomplished something by getting to the bottom! ha!
