The Post About My Heart Will Go On

Cake Pops with a Heart
Last week during a party at my house, my friend Kara asked "Where are your Tums?"

"Umm...I'm not 48. I've never had heartburn or indigestion."

Who knew my arrogance was God's cue to intervene?

The very next night I found myself tucked away in a hotel room during a business trip. Since work was covering costs, I ordered crabcakes lounging on a fluffy bed of fried green tomatoes. Since Marriott was covering costs, I turned up the heat and took to a fluffy bed of down feathers.

At approximately 1:30am, I awoke with chest pain. The type of pain that prompts self-administered CPR and dancing about in a nightshirt and bargaining with God in a way only deemed fit when blue lights appear in a rearview.

And then I realized something.

This pain might require a trip to the hospital.

So I got my priorities straight. I immediately put on my cute jeans, popped in my contacts and dabbed a little concealer under my sleepy eyes. And waited for the sign that a 911 was in order.

But there was no sign. The tightness and burning subsided. And the sleepy took over.

I guess I am 48, after all.

The Post About Staying Together for the Kids

This is my Mom and Dad.

I love that this picture is quite naughty since they appear liquored up with flutes waiting in the wings. In reality, they were and are as pure as the driven snow.

Minus illicit affections for chocolate covered cherries and Glenn Beck, respectively.

Today they celebrate 40 years of wedded bliss.

I love that.

And them.

The Post About The Rabbit Recommends v.56

Author's Note: Been crazy busy. And not always in a fun way. Back to blogging.

Each weekend, I post a readable, a watchable, and a listenable of which I'm fond. You can choose what happens next. Earlier volumes can be found
here.

Read

I thought I might highlight one of my favorite coffee table books. Handbags by Stephanie Pedersen is perfect since it rests on the table right by the couch where many of my handbags lay in wait. They're waiting for me to shove everything from one purse into another as I swap almost daily. I love a great bag. And the bigger, the better.

Watch

This was my favorite ad from the Super Bowl. My unhealthy obsession with Google continues. Honorable Mention? Jay, Oprah and Dave.

Listen

I have a love/hate relationship with country music. Love Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, and the likes. Don't love some others who shall remain unnamed. **cough**TobyKeith**cough. Lady Antebellum falls into the former category. A trio that includes the brother-in-law of Katherine Heigl, the daughter of Linda Davis and the other guy. This song, Hello World, is a new favorite off their recent #1 album, Need You Now.

The Post About Queen Isabella

Queen Isabella - 30/365
This is one of my honorary nieces - Isabella. Her Mom and I were roommates in college.

I've explained before that Isabella gets bonus points for being biracial. Since biracial really does trump uniracial.

I spent the weekend with her and captured some moments.

Preoccupied
She's a human vacuum cleaner. And crawls like a wounded Vietnam vet with no use of her legs.

Hungry
I may have been focused on the wrong things in this particular instance.

Soulful
She will sing for you. But only if there's broccoli as a reward. And "reward" is not what you're smelling when she's had too much.

Attack
She will turn on you on a dime.

Demure
And then pull you right back in.
